As part of the organizational change of UTD this role offers a great opportunity to grow with the business and implement a new workstream - Ensuring sustainable capabilities long term to design and engineer new plants for future business by managing training and education programs, defining succession planning schedule etc.
Acting as the delegated design authority on criticality and radiation dosimetry safety (=the expertise area). Providing governance and oversight in design development, project execution, operations and decommissioning in the expertise area. Ensuring regulatory requirements or guidelines are group reviewed and incorporated in new/amended standards and specifications. Providing expert knowledge and advice in case of troubleshooting and debottlenecking on request of the asset owner.
The main areas of responsibility will include:
-Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of facility’s process design and licensing basis regarding nuclear safety, especially criticality and irradiation aspects
-Establish with site SME’s methodology and computational codes to perform criticality and radiation dosimetry modelling, analysis, and calculations
-Perform analysis, calculations, and develop designs in support of the assigned facility and engineering programs and projects
-Perform technical and quality reviews of a wide array of engineering and technical products. Advanced experience levels also perform reviews of non-typical
documents and situations. Including license and legislation reviews (and maintaining such qualifications)
-Develop resolution of technical problems in accordance with established procedures and available vendor documents (including but not limited to:
Non-conformance Evaluations, Operability Determinations, and Quality Level determinations)
-Determine in HAZOP and design reviews the relevant criticality and dosimetry safety boundaries and constrains
-Apply industrial safety and radiological safety practices in the performance of all field activities and engineering functions
We are now looking for an individual who can make a difference and add value to our existing Team. The following skills and experience will provide an indication of the type of Team Player we are looking for:
•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Process Technology or Nuclear Engineering
•Criticality Safety and/or integrated safety analysis experience
•Demonstrate nuclear engineering capabilities in process technology and/or safety
•Understanding of design (safety) standards and norms and its application in process/nuclear industry
•Monte Carlo Computer code experience (MCNP or MONK preferred)
•Recent experience in computational physics/mathematics
This role is to be based in either Gronau, Almelo, Capenhurst, or Eunice.
